In the first nine months of FY 2024–25, APL continued its growth trajectory, with revenue rising 13% year-on-year to ₹41,951 crore. The company sold 69.5 billion units of power during this period, a 46% increase compared to the same timeframe in the previous year.
Looking ahead, APL aims to expand its generation capacity beyond 24 GW by 2029, with a long-term target exceeding 30 GW by 2030. This growth strategy includes ongoing projects like the 1,600 MW expansions in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, and Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh.
The company’s future prospects are bolstered by a 25-year agreement to supply 1,600 MW of thermal power to Maharashtra, part of a joint bid with Adani Green Energy. This deal ensures long-term revenue stability and aligns with India’s increasing power demand.
APL is also focusing on backward integration into mining to enhance competitiveness and is investing in digitalization to improve operational efficiency. Its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives has earned it recognition, placing it among the top 15% of its global peers.
However, challenges persist, including regulatory scrutiny and fluctuations in global coal prices, which could impact profitability. Despite these hurdles, APL’s diversified energy mix, strategic geographic presence, and commitment to sustainability position it well to navigate industry headwinds and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
